Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area within the West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" location. Many people who don't know the name mistakenly believe that the West Island extends westward from Montreal. It is actually, the West Island includes everything westward from Montreal, including the town of Lachine. Amanda Brugel was born there although her time there was short. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa the city of Ontario. Early ambitions were to be performing, but she literally outgrew the dancing partners. In a report by Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was 6 foot 1 inch tall. When I grew out of my male counterparts, I resigned. In the case of Brugel, it was the encouragement of an instructor in drama from her high school, which prompted her to start acting. Her teacher suggested she audition to play the character of Anne in the school's annual production. After a few auditions, she ended up as the lead actress in Anne of Green Gables. It was her turn to be awarded an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program, where she graduated at the age of 20 with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. Since then, Brugel's been in 60+ productions both on big screens and smaller ones. Her most significant notoriety when she got her character of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian of the Season 1 cast of the show as well as appearing only on occasion, was the sole Canadian.
